The Shettles Method Of Gender Prediction

The late Dr. Landrum Shettles developed these baby gender selection methods in the 1960's and they are still being used with great success today! Thousands of couples have successfully had a baby of the gender of their choice, and having a baby girl may well prove even easier than having a baby boy.

Dr. Shettles explained that the man determines the sex of the baby, by supplying sperm with either a (y) chromosome for a boy or a (x) chromosome for a girl. The "girl" sperm are much larger, hardier (longer lived), but slower to reach the egg that the "boy" sperm.

Keeping this in mind Dr. Shettles realized that by manipulating some of the variables involved a couple could favor one sperm over the other during conception.

To tip the odds in favor of conceiving a baby girl you should:

Have sex up until three days before you ovulate than abstain from sex for at least three days after. Why? Because as stated above the "girl" sperm lives long enough that they will still be alive (while the "boy" sperm will die-off) to fertilize the egg when it becomes available (when you ovulate.)
Use sexual positions that favor the "girl" sperm. Generally shallow penetration during ejaculation is what is required, so that the slower, longer lived, "girl" sperm will again outlive the "boy" sperm (slow and steady-wins the race!) to successfully fertilize the egg.
Create a hostile reproductive environment (for the "boy" sperm anyway.) This again is so the "girl" sperm can "outlive" the "boy" sperm and fertilize the egg resulting in the little baby girl that you want. You accomplish this by monitoring you body's ph and staying on the acidic side, which again makes survival difficult for the "boy" sperm.

By implementing these simple, low tech steps many thousands of couples have been successful in bringing balance to their families, and having that little baby girl they wanted. Is it possible to predict baby gender? In this article I'm going to share some of the ways of determining baby gender, both pre-conception and/or after conception.

You could go to a fertility clinic, but you will get no guarantee of success and could very easily spend thousands of dollars! I don't know about you but I don't have a big wad of money to give away. So, are there some other, less expensive alternatives?

Let's start with the Shettles Method as your baby predictor. This baby sex prediction method is based on the fact that the father's sperm is the deciding factor in whether a baby girl or boy baby is conceived.

The sperm that will create a boy baby is physically smaller, weaker, but faster than the "girl" sperm. By taking advantage of these differences Dr. Shettles realized you could actually give an advantage to one sperm over the other and often result in the baby boy or girl you wanted.

Dr. Shettles came up with a simple, at home three step system of baby gender selection many years ago, but his methods have withstood the test of time and are still very popular today!

You could opt for the Chinese Lunar Calendar Baby Predictor, which has been predicting baby's sex for centuries. Many in China and throughout the far eastern countries have a lot of faith in it's accuracy (up to 99%.) Here in the west we tend to be a little more skeptical. The Chinese Lunar Calendar Baby Predictor is said to be able to predict a baby's gender either before or after conception, but I'll let you be the judge.

Then of course there are The Old Wives Tales For Predicting a Baby Girl. Some of these old wives tales gender predictors seem a little outlandish (the "Drano" prediction method for example) but I would think some would have a basis in fact. Again I'll let you be the judge on the accuracy of these gender predictors as well.

Both the Chinese Lunar Calendar Baby Predictor and The Old Wives Tales can be a whole lot of fun to experiment with at your next baby shower if nothing else.

If you are pregnant now and want to know the sex of your unborn baby, you could find out by way of ultrasound in your 4th or 5th month. Or if your are scheduled for either a Amniocentesis, or Chorionic Villus Sampling or CVS test you can find out your baby's gender with a 99% accuracy! These tests are pretty invasive though, and won't be preformed just to predict baby gender.

It's been said that over 70% of couples world-wide would choose the gender of their babies pre-conception if they only could, if you fall within this group, you might try looking into the Shettles Methods, which it's believed can increase your chances of success from the normal 50/50 to over 95%!

The most important thing to always keep in mind is, regardless of whether you are successful in your gender predicting efforts or not, your new baby should be wanted and loved even if it is of the "other" gender. Gender disappointment is real and should not be taken lightly, don't allow yourself to succumb to it!

How Can "Eating The Right Foods" Help Me Conceive A Baby Girl?

Good question! Lets start by explaining how the egg is fertilized to produce a baby girl. The woman carries only the (xx) chromosome, while the man's sperm has some (xy) sperm and some (yy) sperm. So if the woman's egg (carrying the (xx) chromosome) is fertilized by the man's sperm carrying the (xy) chromosome than a girl will develop, if the egg is fertilized by the (yy) sperm a boy baby will result. So yes, it's the man's sperm that determines whether the baby is a boy or girl. If only Henry the IIV had known! (He was a king in England who killed many of his wives who didn't give him a boy baby, for those of you who didn't know;o)

There are a few very important differences between the "boy" sperm and the "girl" sperm. The girl sperm is much larger physically then the boy sperm, and tends to be slower moving and much hardier and longer lived.

Eat More To Conceive A Boy-Less To Conceive A Girl

There have been recent studies that have shown that if you eat breakfast before sex you are more likely to conceive a boy, so skipping breakfast will help you conceive a baby girl. Also eating a diet that consists of about 2200 calories or more per day during the time you are trying to conceive will make a boy more likely, so cutting back on your daily caloric intake will tip the odds in favor of a girl.

Eat Foods High In Calcium And Magnesium To Conceive A Baby Girl

Because the girl sperm are tougher than the boy sperm, by eating the right foods you can change your body's ph (become more acidic) and this can cause the boy sperm to die off, leaving only the girl sperm the opportunity to fertilize the egg. So you should be eating foods high in calcium and magnesium that will help to raise your ph, foods such as;

Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt)
Bean, legumes
Leafy green vegetables
Most fruits
Meats
Corn
Fish
Whole grains

Conversely you should not eat foods high in potassium, or other foods that will lower your body's ph. It is said you should avoid alcohol, caffeine, and chocolate during the this diet also.

Douching Can Be A Short-Cut To Raising Your Body's Acidity

Eating right can be a slow way to raise your vaginal ph, and douching can be much quicker. I know douching is old fashioned, and there has been problems associated with it, but it can change your vaginal ph quickly and easily. I would recommend douching only with your doctors supervision however.

The timing of when you have sex to conceive a baby girl, although less crucial than when trying to have a boy baby, is still important to your success.

Why is timing so critical? Lets look at the differences between the man's sperm (he, or his sperm anyway is what determines the sex of your baby.) The women's egg always carries the (xx) chromosome, all female with no male chromosomes at all. The man's sperm on the other hand can have a (xy) chromosome (producing a girl baby) or a (yy) chromosome (producing a boy baby.)

There are a few very important physical differences between the "girl" sperm and the "boy" sperm. The girl sperm is physically larger, stronger (longer lived), and slower swimmers (slower to reach the egg.) The boy sperm of course are smaller, faster, and more fragile (tend to die off quicker.)

By taking advantage of these differences one is able to tip the odds in favor of conceiving a baby girl. How? Well, by charting your ovulation cycle (knowing the exact day you will ovulate) you should have sex normally throughout the month, but abstain from intercourse three days prior to ovulation until at least three days after. You do this to take advantage of the fragility of the boy sperm, they tend to all die off before the egg comes down and are therefore unable to fertilize it, leaving only the longer-lived girl sperm to do the deed, resulting in the beautiful baby girl you wanted.

Have A Baby Girl By Using The Right Position

When you're trying to conceive a baby girl, the position you have sex in while trying to conceive comes into play as well. Again because the girl sperm are tougher than the boy sperm you want to give them all a long and difficult journey to the egg. This helps to ensure the boy sperm all die off before even getting to the egg. So when trying to conceive a girl, the man should practice very shallow penetration, especially when ejaculation occurs. The actual position you use during sex is of less importance when wanting a girl, just remember to deposit the sperm near the opening of the vagina. Not only do you want a long trip for the sperm, if wanting a girl, you will also want to increase your body's acidity to give even more certainty to the boy sperms demise.

Your belly looks like a watermelon
